£1 per bowler levy invoices on the way

Bowling News

The invoices to collect the £1 levy per bowler will be going out to clubs soon. Payment has to be forwarded to the Yorkshire CCGBA by the end of this month.

Last month I added a posting to the HuddWeb site which created some interest when it appeared on the Veterans League Facebook page. It is proposed to use the JustGo BCGBA system to monitor membership of clubs and invoice them based on overall numbers. Last month a survey of clubs that have used JustGo was undertaken on HuddWeb with 70% of the clubs responding that they were not confident in the data on the JustGo system was accurate.

I shared the facts covered in the survey with Yorkshire CCGBA last month and asked if they had any response to the clubs that had expressed their concerns that the data on the JustGo system was inaccurate. I have not received any reply from Yorkshire CCGBA to my query.

Here are some of the responses to the article on the Facebook page which expressed concern about the readiness of Yorkshire clubs to be correctly charged the £1 levy per bowler based on the JustGo system.

I've been on it a while for Crosland Moor. The ability to add/remove members was restricted so the system is basically just a static list, instead needing to email Yorkshire officials with updates. This hasn't been successful and our list still isn't up to date. If this is to be used for recharging clubs, it needs unlocking so it can be used self service by clubs or it'll be unsustainable. It's also a very unintuitive system so will need decent training and support if there's any hope of anyone not tech savvy being able to use it.

You naughty boy Mark don’t say sensibly things that make sense

Mark Atkinson same experience. Too much work for one person who's already busy though

£1 this year, get it through and watch out for a new rule allowing the BCGBA to jack it up year after year ..... what does the everyday social bowler gain from all this extra funds the BCGBA will raise ... will it go directly to main competitions and directors/employees salaries/pensions?

Malcolm Cooley can I politely suggest you read the document Malcolm. Not a penny goes into competitions, etc....everything goes towards the development of grassroot Clubs AND is protected to ONLY be spent on that

Thank you for your prompt response. That clears that up then.

Because no bowlers in South Yorkshire know anything about it and have not be asked if they would be willing to pay a pound we are struggling to keep clubs running we have lost another 2 clubs for next season it seems to me they just want central control without consent.

Hi Everyone, have you all read the BCGBA National Development Strategy? The strategy has been presented to Counties in July and November, circulated on social media, circulated to all County Secretaries and a video has been published on the BCGBA Facebook page.

£1 a player to invest in our grassroots Clubs seems a fantastic opportunity when each region will be supported by over £7,000 worth of equipment to help them develop. For too long our sport has been run on goodwill and the hope of people participating at our local Clubs. Let's start to support the BCGBA in their efforts, especially when everything has been fully explained as to what the £1 will be for. Improving the future of our sport for the price of a cup of coffee is a no-brainer to me personally.
