Memories
A press cutting from the Huddersfield Examiner 53 years ago dated 19 September 1972. The Huddersfield Veterans League had been formed in 1970 and consisted of two divisions where the Champions of each met to contest the destination of the Andrew Barrie Trophy. There was no promotion or relegation as teams were placed in divisions based on bus routes from their home base. No bowler was expected to have to catch more than 2 buses to reach the destination of their weekly match. That format stayed in place for the first 10 years of the Veterans League.
The cutting covers the 1972 Andrew Barrie Trophy and also some league match results which I am sure many of you will delight in looking through searching for names of friends, relatives and prominent bowlers from that era.
