Winter League
With the League programme now completed and the new Pairs Knock-Out competition also completed last Friday we can now present the 2024-25 season Roll of Honour with one name still to be added. That is for the fourth winner of The Winter Cup as the Final will not be played until Sunday 6 April at Netherton Con.
The Roll of Honour below shows that we have five new trophy sponsors this year following the extension of the League to 8 Divisions to cater for the 10 new teams joining the League in 2024. We are grateful to our sponsors with Elland WMC donating the new Robert Hitchen Trophy awarded to the Pairs KO winners and retiring Winter League Chairman Mike Ralph sponsoring the 'Best of the Rest' trophy which is going to the Division 8 Champions.
In addition Bob Swan has sponsored the Tedbar Tinker Trophy in memory of a former Cowcliffe, bowler, Blackpool Waterloo Champion and local landlord. Peter Swinden set a precedent when he donated a named trophy to the League after his first granddaughter was born and two more additions to the Swinden family have been similarly recognised this year with their own trophies as well.
The full list of winners and sponsors is listed below and all the trophies will be presented to their new owners at the respective End-of-Season events. Some winning teams and individuals have still to claim their reserved party tickets. This can only be held until 7 days before the respective party dates when they will be placed on open sale. Over 100 tickets have already been sold for the two events and with a further 48 held in reserve that leaves around 90 tickets still available for sale, around 45 for each venue. That's not a lot left. When they have gone there will be no more unless the reserved tickets are not claimed a week before the party. The online booking form is at the foot of this posting.
