Veterans League
Preview of the Veterans 10-Man League Divisions 3, 4 & 5 fixtures for Tuesday 23 April
Five teams in Division 3 have 100% win records, four of them occupy the top four positions in the table with Springwood being the fifth member but they have played a game less than the other quartet. They have to go to Outlane on Tuesday where the hosts are looking for their first win of the campaign but did have a great Team KO win on Friday to boost their hopes.
The top four all avoid each other this Tuesday with Lindley Lib B having the biggest test yet when they go to play the new team from Elland WMC. The Elland side are fresh from a great Team KO victory over Golcar Lib A last Friday where a 145-139 scoreline put them through to a Round 2 encounter with another Division 1 team, Lowerhouses. Denby Dale are the table-toppers and they have a home match with Holmfirth A and if they really do have title ambitions then this is the type of match they will expect to win comprehensively.
Brockholes A and Skel Windmill are the other top four members and both have away matches this week. Brockholes A are at Thorpe Green who have started surprisingly slowly with two losses and now would be a good time to show their real potential. Skel Windmill are away at Paddock I&C where they lost heavily last year. Slaithwaite will fancy the chances of picking up their first win of the season when hosting bottom of the table Hemplow.
After two weeks there are only two teams with unbeaten records in Division 4 and they belong to the B teams from Brockholes and Milnsbridge. Brockholes have home advantage over Lockwood Con B whereas Milnsbridge travel to play 4th-placed Huddersfield Recreation Club.
Kirkheaton C&BC A are only a point behind the two unbeaten leaders and they will fancy their chances of closing that one-point gap when they entertain Huddersfield RUBC. The Marsh derby match will be played out at United's Eldon Road green with the Liberal Club visitors seeking their first win of the season and there would be no better place to claim it.
Ravensknowle Park v Meltham B completes the Tuesday Division 4 fixture programme with both teams having won one and lost one but having very different 10-6 points totals leaving the teams in opposite halves of the table.
Three unbeaten teams lead the Division 5 table and all three have away fixtures this week. The leaders on a better 'Aggregate Against' total are David Brown Sports. They have the same points total (15) and 'Aggregate For' total of 273 with Netherton Con B but a less 'Aggregate Against' total of 190-198. The leaders are away at Primrose Hill Lib and then Netherton Con B are at 4th-placed Dalton. The third unbeaten record belongs to New Mill B although they are 4-points behind the two leaders and this week they take on Broad Oak B who were not disgraced in going down 3-6 at David Brown Sports last week.
Kirkheaton Con B won their only match to date but will be further tested away at Hemplow B this week. Holmfirth B and Kirkheaton C&BC B both go in search of their first wins of the season when they clash at Holmfirth and Almondbury BC B are also looking for their first victory of the year when they host Greenhead Park to complete the week's fixture programme.
