Winter League
A warm sunshine for much of the almost 6 hours of bowling was most welcome as was the close encounters of a Division 6 kind. The most popular score of the day being 21-19 with 3 of the four Round 2 games ending in that scoreline. With four different teams represented in the final round it proved to be an open event with 3 of the last 4 bowlers being the top 3 bowlers in the end of season Top Bowler table it was also a high-standard competition.
The length of time it took to get down to the final two bowlers is to be reviewed by the Management Committee. Fortunately it was a warm winter's day which made it more tolerable but asking 20+ pensioners to stay outside on a typically winter cold day for 6 hours would not be acceptable. There are options that could be considered to reduce the time involved. For example for qualifying rounds where more than 16 bowlers had entered could be shared over two days, or even reduce games to 15 or 18 ends.
