Preview of the 6-Man League fixtures to be played on Monday 22 May
There are three teams at the foot of the Division 1 table still looking for their first wins of the season with only one of them with a home fixture this Monday. Elland C&BC entertain Milnsbridge BC 'A' who are just above that trio and probably present the best opportunity for Elland to claim their first win in the 6-Man League after joining this season.
Lockwood Con and Longwood both have tremendous records in the league over many years which are well behind them now but a relegation has not featured for either team before so both will be keen to avoid such a scenario. Both teams play away this week and Lockwood Con take on a Skel Windmill 'A' side that has won its two previous home matches by the same 7-0 scoreline. Longwood's trip to play Brockholes 'A' will be very difficult for them as the Badgers jockey for the title at present.
With the two teams above them both having away matches this week this could be a good time for a big win. The top two teams remain unbeaten with the leaders, Marsh United 'A', meeting Thongsbridge 'A' and Netherton Con are at Crosland Moor.
There is a top clash in Division 2 as the leaders, Paddock I&C, have home advantage over Lindley Lib 'A' and the club's 'A' team will be hoping that their club mates do some damage to that unbeaten record to open up the way for them to close the one-point gap that there is between the teams. The 'A' team are at home tolmondbury Lib who won for the first time last week when whitewashing Linthwaite Hall 7-0. Slaithwaite, who go to meet lowly Holmfirsth 'A', will be hoping that the leaders suffer a setback this week to open the door to their challenge and extend their own unbeaten record.
The bottom two teams met at Linthwaite Hall where Denby Dale are the visitors who will be aiming to claim a first win of the season and close the 2-point gap between the teams. The two remaining fixtures both have the ring of mid-table indifference about them as Clayton West host Skel Windmill 'B' and Milnsbridge 'B' have home advantage over Golcar Lib. Sometimes a good win can reignite the hopes and aspirations of mid-table teams and provide the impetus to move on to better times and certainly at this still early season time no team should be writing off their own chances of further improvement.
Only four points separate the top five teams in Division 3 and only one of those five has a home match this Monday. That being third-placed Marsh United 'B' and they meet fifth-placed Thongsbridge 'B'. Marsh Lib are the leaders and they have the most difficult-looking encounter when they travel to Greenhead Park who will be looking to bounce back from a first defeat of the season last Monday.
The Shepley 'B' v Hemplow fixture promises to be interesting with both teams in the bottom three and both still looking for their first wins of the season, one of them will achieve that this week. Brockholes 'B' are also aiming for a first win of 2023 but may have to wait a little longer as their trip to play at Meltham looks a big ask although they were only denied that elusive win by an 87-90 aggregate score last week when going down 3-4 at home to Primrose Hill Lib.
