Review of the fixtures played in Divisions 2 and 8 on Tuesday

Division 2 leaders, Hanging Heaton A, are finally opening up a gap between themselves and Golcar Lib after Tuesday's results. The top two have been locked together for the first 10 matches but this key pair of results this week puts the destination of the title firmly in their hands. Hanging Heaton's sixth 8-0 win of the season was over Marsh United who were on the wrong end of that scoreline against the leaders for the second time this season.
At the same time Golcar Lib slipped up when being held to a 4-4 draw by Lowerhouses A. They preserved their unbeaten season-long record but the loss of those points puts them 6 points behind the leaders. The top two both remain unbeaten with only two draws each to blemish their playing records. This is all building up to a real end-of-season climax as the top two are scheduled to meet on the very last day of the Division 2 season.
Lindley Lib B have been in the bottom two positions all season along with their neighbours from the Lindley BC B side but suddenly they have started to hit form. A secound successive win, this time over Milnsbridge A, puts then within range of Milnsbridge A as only 6 points now separates the two teams. There was another drawn match this week as Lindley BC B and Clayton West shared the points to round off a return to the green for the Division 2 sides.
The Division 8 leaders, Golcar C&BC took a hammering against promotion rivals Cowcliffe C this Tuesday as an 8-0 whitewash scoreline was the outcome. At the same time, Holmfirth who have been wedged between the other two teams were also celebrating a big win to hold on to second place after thrashing bottom team Kirkheaton C&BC B 8-0. Only the leaders have managed to see off the Holmfirth team in their last six fixtures as they come into form right at the business end of the season.
Mirfield B beat Linthwaite Hall B 6-2 to overtake them in the table and end a three-match winning run for the Linthwaite Hall team. Broad Oak A are the division's form team and they won again this week seeing of lowly Lockwood Con C by 6-2 but the 54-51 aggregate scoreline indicates that it was no walk over.
