The Met Office has issued a rare Amber Wind Weather Warning for West Yorkshire for all day Friday. This could impact the Pairs KO Qualifying Round scheduled for 10.45am at Thorpe Green especially if accompanied by the forecasted overnight heavy rainfall. There is also a full set of Division 7 fixtures at Lockwood Con at the same time. Read on for the arrangements for Friday morning.
An inspection of the green will be held at 9.45am on Friday morning and notice will appear on the home page of the website as to the outcome of that. It is not just about the condition of the green as an Amber Weather Warning is a serious matter and bowler safety is the prime concern. That applies to travelling to the green as well as playing on it.
All bowlers and spectators are warned that there is a danger of the qualifying round being postponed and notice is given that anyone expecting to be there that morning should visit the website after 10.00am to get information on the situation. Where bowlers have supplied their mobile phone numbers a text message will be sent after 10.00am relaying the decision.
Alternatively bowlers and spectators can phone either John Pix (Competition Secretary) on 07979 791 201 or Jeff Jacklin (League Secretary) on 07968 171 197 after 10.00am to get the latest update.
There is also a set of Division 8 fixtures at Lockwood Con at the same time. Usual postponement arrangements are in place where team captains will be informed if matches are postponed on matchday.
