Another setback for Division 1 title holders

Winter League

Review of the Division 1 matches played at Milnsbridge on Wednesday 6 November

Last season Thorpe Green A won the Division 1 title by 9 points. After two matches this season they are 8 points off the top of the table with a 2-6 defeat to Lower Hopton the latest setback to them retaining the title. Of course the Lower Hopton team are no mugs having won the title themselves in the previous two seasons and finishing as runners-up last term as well. They announced their intent to challenge for the top honour once again with this win which they means that only them and Lindley BC A have unblemished win records after two matches.

Lindley BC A beat Meltham A 6-2 to head the current table with Cowcliffe A bouncing back from their opening day defeat at the hands of Lower Hopton to claim a whitewash win over Lindley Lib A who are resigned to bottom spot and still looking for their first points of the new season.

Kirkheaton Con A claimed their first win with a 6-2 victory over New Mill A to complete the day's programme as teams get back into the Wednesday groove of playing, socialising and eating the wonderful stews and soups that the catering team continue to provide and are as much a part of Wednesdays as is the bowling.
