Bowling News

The BCGBA are extending the number of club competitions that can supply winning bowlers to the prestigious end of season BCGBA Champion-of-Champions competition. They are looking to extend the number of bowlers to 64 that progress to the opening rounds of the competition.

If you run an open club competition and want to raise the profile of it and attract more top bowlers you may want to decide to submit a bid. Existing Champion-of-Champions qualifying competitions also need to submit their information by 8 December if they wish to be considered for inclusion in the 2025 competition pipeline.

Here is the BCGBA communications outlining what is required, why and by when.

***Champion of Champions 2025***

ATTENTION ALL COMPETITION ORGANISERS

Following a thorough review of the 2024 BCGBA 'Champion of Champions' Weekend at Owley Wood Recreation Club in September, the BCGBA Competitions Committee are making some changes for 2025. Over the last couple of weeks, they've met with a panel including some of the top bowlers, and for 2025, the Men's event will increase to 64 qualifiers!!!

This change will enable more of the sport's top bowlers to qualify and make the weekend even better for spectators. There's more information coming out soon for the Ladies event.

So, the Competitions Committee need information from Open Competition Organisers who would like their competitions to be considered for qualification. This applies to ALL competitions, whether they have been a qualifier for the event previously or not. The information required to be submitted for consideration is:

Name of Competition

Venue

Name/Contact Details of Organiser

Expected Number of Entries

Potential Prize Pot

Anticipated Finals Date

Brief History of the Competition

Confirmation of 'No Homesters'

We fully appreciate that not all information will be confirmed as yet, and the Competitions Committee are happy to accept expectations for events.

Please forward this information to Yvette Gregory at competitions@bcgba.org.uk

If you sent information about your competition at the previous request, you do not need to re-send it.

The information needs to be received no later than Sunday 8th December, with a full list of successful qualifying competitions being released on 1st January 2025.
