Veterans League
Preview of the Veterans 10-Man League Divisions 1 & 2 fixtures for Tuesday 9 July
Early focus in Division 1 this week is on the foot of the table clash of the bottom two teams when Clayton West have to go to Netherton Con who remain in bottom spot. With 12 points between the teams that situation will not change this week but the Netherton side need to start adding some wins to their record soon if they are to avoid an immediate return to Division 2.
The two teams above the two relegation places go up against each other as Rastrick host Lindley BC A.. Rastrick had a wonderful 8-1 away win at Golcar Lib last Tuesday whilst the Lindley BC team played one bowler short and paid the penalty with a 2-7 home defeat to Lowerhouses. That win for the leaders extended their winning run to 9 matches and they now have an eleven points lead.over Marsh United A who have a home fixture with Kirkheaton Con A on Tuesday.
Waterloo will be pleased to have home advantage against Cowcliffe and Longwood who are on a run of three straight defeats host Golcar Lib A who have had only one win in their last 5 matches.
Meltham A continue set the pace at the top of the Division 2 table and now have a lead of 13 points over Elland C&BC and both have away fixtures this week as do third-placed Lindley Lib A. Meltham appear to have a difficult looking fixture when they go to Milnsbridge A. Elland will be looking to claim the majority of the points at Linthwaite Hall and Lindley Lib have the hardest fixture visiting Shepley A who have won their last four matches to propel themselves into the top half of the table.
Playing away to your next door neighbours when you are in the relegation places is not where you want to be. That is Almondbury Lib's plight as they go up Westgate to take on their local rivals on Tuesday and with a 9-points gap between them things are unlikely to change this week.
