Bowling Exhibition now open at Colne Valley Museum

Bowling News

An Exhibition of bowling memorabilia is being held for six weeks at the Colne Valley Museum from 7 October to 19 November. The Museum only opens between 12pm and 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The museum address is Cliffe Ash, Golcar, Huddersfield HD7 4PY.

The next exhibition at the museum is John Ingleby's Bowling Exhibition - Looking back over the years at Huddersfield and District. Bowling has been a leisure activity since Victorian times. This is an interesting exhibition and there will be competitions too.

John Ingleby is the Exhibition organiser and he is now appealing for anyone with any memorabilia to come forward and offer the loan of suitable material for the duration of the Exhibition. John is still looking for volunteers to man the museum for some of the dates to talk to visitors about what bowling means to them or to help in setting up the displays in advance. You can contact John on 01484 304511 or 07982 644 357 for further information.

Could it be an opportunity to attract new bowlers ? I’m sure many teams will be looking for new bowlers next season.

We certainly are at LINDLEY B.C. mainly because we’ve lost 3 of our A team bowlers. This is particularly disappointing having just gained promotion to Division 1 of the Vets 10 man team.

So, if there’s anyone out there interested in joining a friendly club with a tricky green regarded by many as one of the best in Huddersfield, plus only £10 for the first year’s subs then feel free to con me.
