Chaotic final day of the season

Veterans League

Preview of the final matches in Divisions 3,4&5 of the 10-Man League

Yesterday's heavy rain caused the postponement of the majority of the 6-Man League fixtures with some being rearranged for later in the week and some have given up altogether and decided to share the points. Go to the 6-Man League Bowlsnet fixture pages to see the full impact. I have to confess that I am totally ignorant of the true severity of the weather as I am in the middle of a 7-day stay in Durham where all we had yesterday was a steady all-day drizzle.

Just to add to the normal final day of the season mayhem the weather intervenes to introduce more uncertainty. Good luck to all teams and League administrators in sorting out the promotion and relegation chaos but on HuddWeb we plough on regardless assuming that a full final day fixture programme will be completed as we publish this peview.

Here we go again then with a summary of where we are in Divisons 3, 4 & 5 of the 10-Man League as we enter the final day of the Veterans 10-Man League season.

Division 3 TOP: Elland WMC and Denby Dale are 1st and 2nd respectively with both teams promoted and Elland the Champions. BOTTOM: Skel Windmill are relegated. Either Outlane or Thorpe Green will drop down with them with Thorpe Green needing 6 points from their final match to ensure that it isn't them.

Division 4 TOP: Lockwood Con B will be promoted as Champions if they win their final fixture away at Marsh Lib. Defeat could mean that they don't get promoted at all. Kirkheaton C&BC, Marsh United B and Marsh Lib are all equal on 112 points. At least one of the three will be promoted. The Kirkheaton C&BC team has the best 'Aggregate For' score of the three contenders but are the only one with a final day away match.

BOTTOM: Lindley BC B are relegated. Either Brockholes B or Meltham B will also be relegated with both teams on 79 points. The better final day result will secure another season in Division 4.

Division 5

TOP: Netherton Con B and David Brown Sports are both already promoted. Six points for Netherton Con B at home to Greenhead Park B will add the title to their season as well as they have much the better Aggregate For total of the two teams.

BOTTOM: Holmfirth B are favourites for the wooden spoon but a big win at home to Kirkheaton Con B could bring Kirkheaton C&BC B or Almondbury BC B into range.
