Review of the 6-Man League matches played on Monday 23 September
Clayton West have claimed the Division 2 Champions title after a 7-0 home win over Golcar Lib. That gives them an 8 point lead over New Mill and Bradley & Colne with just one match to go. New Mill's 12th win on the trot, this time 6-1 away at Holmfirth A, put them into second place level on points with Bradley & Colne who beat Linthwaite Hall at home 5-2.
Marsh Lib remain in contention after a 5-2 home win over Milnsbridge B and they are just a point between their rivals for the second promotion place. however it is New Mill very much in the driving seat as they occupy the second promotion place and are the only one of the three contenders with a home match next Monday.
Things remain in the air at the foot of the table with Hemplow and Almondbury Lib not playing their penultimate fixture until Thursday. Greenhead Park A and Linthwaite Hall now sit two points ahead of Hemplow. Four points for Greenhead Park A at Elland C&BC revived their hopes of escape but things remain very tight and tense.
Marsh United A need to win their final Division 1 fixture, and the minimum 4 points that would bring, to secure the title. A 6-1 home win over Lockwood Con set up the final day push for the title whilst Waterloo dropped two points when beating Shepley A 5-2. That ended the Shepley team's hopes of a title and will rely on Waterloo slipping up in their final match to give them a sniff of the runners-up position.
All matters at the wrong end of the table have been decided with Lockwood Con and Paddock I&C already relegated.
With two Division 3 fixtures not being played until later in the week nothing much has changed in the table positions. Denby Dale remain third after a first win in four but the damage may already have been done to scupper their promotion hopes.
