The Junior Gambart is a spin-off from the prestigious and long-established Gambart Baines competition traditionally held in Scarborough every year. The main competition has been run for over 100 years but the junior version is a much newer event. Sponsorship from Wendy Crowther in memory of her husband Roger, who was a Gambart Baines winner, has helped establish and raise the profile of the junior competition.
This year there were 23 entries for the Under-19 competition and because of maintenance work on the Scarborough Cliff BC green it was switched to Whitby this year. Cowcliffe bowler Harry Chadwick took the title after beating Ashley Walton 21-19 in the final. Harry won £200 for his achievement with the runner-up taking £100. But it didn't all end there for the Cowcliffe club. All the bowlers eliminated in the opening rounds went into a Supplementary Competition which was won by another Cowcliffe bowler, Ada Fox who beat Grace Rhodes 21-20 in a close final. The winner received a £50 prize with £25 for the runner-up.
