I am grateful to Alan Crowther for this report and photos of Easter Monday's Roger Crowther's Memorial Knock-Out played at Longwood in typical Bank Holiday weather.


ROGER CROWTHER MEMORIAL K.O.

Dan Beeby became the fourth winner of the Roger Crowther Memorial Handicap bowled on Easter Monday April 21st  by beating Terry Brook 21-20. The weather improved for the last eight which produced some great bowling and exciting finishes.

Beeby on form all day beat last years winner Neil Slattery, Mark Atkinson and Louis Barker just to get into the last eight, where he first beat Mark Bramall 21-19 and in the semi-final beat Nathan Haigh (who the previous day had won the Griffin Champion of Champions) 21-19.

Brook also last years runner-up survived a 15-3 deficit against Mick Higgins jnr in the quarter-final and squeezed past former winner Paul Ingleby 21-20.


Despite the inclement weather the event was well supported and £500 was raised for Kirkwood Hospice.
