Headlines

  • Division 1 top two teams both lose

  • Only one bottom-six winner in Division 1

  • Division 2 leaders overtaken after home defeat

  • Milnsbridge sole bottom 6 winner after beating leaders

  • 4-Man Bradley & Colne team beaten

  • Brockholes B stay top of Division 3 despite no match this week

  • A 6-1 home win lifts Holmfirth B off the foot of Division 3 table

The Division 1 day started with 4 points separating the top eight teams. Two of those eight lost - the top two! That saw the leaders, Lindley Lib A, beaten 0-7 at Golcar C&BC and they drop 7 places to 8th position as a result but are only 5 points behind the new leader, Netherton Con. Second placed Slaithwaite also tasted defeat when going down 1-6 against the new leaders and they drop to 7th position in the updated table.

That big win for Golcar C&BC pushed them up to 3rd position level on points with Waterloo who had a 5-2 home win over Paddock I&C where the home side lost two games 20-21 to be denied a whitewash win which would have put them top of the table. Skel Windmill A had a 6-1 home win over Thongsbridge A and moved up two places to 4th passing Marsh United A on the way despite them having a good 5-2 away win over Milnsbridge BC A.

Shepley A were the only winners in the bottom 6 teams as they condemned Crosland Moor to a fifth consecutive defeat, this one 2-5, and they will spend another week in the relegation places. They are one place above Lockwood Con who went down 1-6 at Brockholes A.

A surprise home defeat for the Division 2 leaders, Golcar Lib, by Milnsbridge BC B saw them overtaken by Clayton West who beat a 4-man Bradley & Colne team. It is hoped that this isn't a sign of things to come for the Bradley & Colne team as the reason they are appearing in the 6-Man League this season was because of team-raising problems last year in the 10-Man League. They had made a bright start to their season so they will be as disappointed as anyone by this setback.

The shock away win for Milnsbridge B over the leaders on their own turf saw them as the only winners in the bottom six and they move up a place to 10th. New Mill hang on to third spot after a 2-5 defeat away to Marsh Lib A who close in on them along with Holmfirth A who now sit just a point off a top three position. A good 6-1 home win for Greenhead Park A over Hemplow saw their positions reversed and the bottom two, Elland C&BC and Linthwaite Hall, both getting beat to leave them worryingly adrift at the foot of the table.

Brockholes B were without a match this week in Division 3 but remain clear at the top as Denby Dale's 5-2 home win over Greenhead Park B wasn't enough to overhaul the leaders. However both teams remain unbeaten and 5 points clear of Skel Windmill B who won 5-2 away at Brockholes C. Thongsbridge B moved menacingly close to Marsh Lib B after beating them 6-1 and there is only one point between the teams now as Marsh Lib drop from 3rd to 5th.

A good 5-2 away win for Primrose Hill Lib at Marsh United saw the winners draw level on points with their rivals. Holmfirth B moved off the bottom of the table and up two places passing a Shepley B side who they beat 6-1 and over Meltham who were without a game this week.
