Review of the results of the Division 8 matches played at Lockwood Con on Tuesday
The Division 8 leaders, Golcar C&BC, returned to winning ways with a 6-2 victory over the improving Holmfirth side. Bouncing back from their first defeat of the season the previous week to extend their lead at the top to 17 points as their nearest challengers, Cowcliffe C were held to a 4-4 draw by Mirfield B. With Mirfield's Colin adding a Santa outfit to compliment his knees with his matching red shorts causing a distraction which may be responsible for putting their opponents off. All good fun.
A good day for the bottom two teams who both won their pre-Christmas fixtures. Kirkheaton C&BC B won for the second time this season when seeing off Broad Oak B 6-2 courtesy of a 54-52 aggregate advantage. Linthwaite Hall B made it two wins on the trot when beating the host team of Lockwood Con C with their first-ever 8-0 whitewash win. Those results put the bottom two well within range of safety. With the likelihood of a Division 9 being formed for next season, that means the bottom two teams in Division 8 could be relegated so everything to play for.
