Denby Dale move into top gear

Winter League

Review of the Division 3 matches played at Springwood on Wednesday 27 November

Denby Dale show no signs of slowing down as they continue to rack up the wins as they go 13 points clear at the top after the latest 8-0 win (their 3rd of the season) over Lockwood Con A. Such a lead after the halfway point of the season with 7 matches played and 7 more to come all points to a formality of a procession to the title for these original members of the League.

The real interest is in which team will claim the second promotion place with at least three teams in contention. Lowerhouses B lead that pack, a position they cemented with a 6-2 win over bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield Recreation Club on Wednesday. Thorpe Green C suffered a setback to their hopes of moving into contention with a 2-6 reversal against New Mill B whilst Brockholes A on current form will be disappointed to only claim 4 points from their drawn encounter with Springwood A.

There is quite a second half of the season brewing at the foot of the table with only 4 points between the bottom four teams which could soon be extended to 6 teams with another couple of surprise results similar to those seen this week. Whereas at the top of the table Denby Dale and Lowerhouses B seem to be asserting their authority on matters as they look to build on their ever-emphatic leads.
