Winter League
Meltham extended their unbeaten start to the season by beating Thorpe Green 'B' 8-0 and reclaiming top position at the same time. They overtook Springwood 'A' who were without a match this week but a five-point lead, having played a match more, doesn't look to be conclusive. Meltham are clearly a force to be reckoned with as their team is little changed and contains 3 of the top 5 bowlers in the Division 2 averages. More on individual averages in Sunday's Sexy Statistics posting on Sunday would you believe.
The meeting of two teams searching for their first wins of the season went the way of the new boys from Paddock I&C as they overcame Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' 6-2 and they now join a group of 3 teams on 8 points just above bottom place.
Almondbury BC were involved in their third 8-0 scoreline match of the season this time the scoreline going against them as they went down to Lindley Lib who were recovering from the previous week's narrow 3-5 defeat to Meltham. Another much-changed Almondbury line-up as once again a team shares out the winter bowling experience as they have now used 9 different bowlers in their 3 matches to date.
Denby Dale had a good 6-2 victory over Jackson Bridge but failed to overtake them in the league table but look comfortable in mid-table. A selection of photographs from this week's Division 2 fixtures will be posted online later today.
