Veterans League
Preview of Divisions 3,4 and 5 fixtures in the 10-Man League scheduled for Tuesday 16 July
A straightforward set of fixtures in Division 3 this week with no top-of-the-table clashes or similar at the bottom in this division. The top two teams, Denby Dale and Elland WMC, appear to be breaking away from the chasing pack with a 9-points opening up to a Brockholes A side in 3rd place that has dropped back a little in recent weeks.
At the foot of the table Skel Windmill have lost 6 on the bounce now and are 11 points off safety and one point above bottom-placed Thorpe Green who have lost their last 4 matches. Both have top half opposition this week so things may not improve for them in the short term. The four teams about that group are separated by 2 points with two of that quartet set to face each other this Tuesday. Springwood and Hemplow A are both on 42 points so a real incentive to both to draw away from the bottom regions with a good win this week.
The top four teams in Division 4 have only 5 points between them and two of those meet this week. Lockwood Con B are in 4th spot and they have home advantage over 2nd placed Marsh United B who are two points better off than their Tuesday rivals.
Milnsbridge B are the form team among the leaders having won their last 4 matches and will expect to extend that record when they entertain Marsh Lib this week. Thongsbridge B are on the same 4-match winning run and aiming to complete a league double over Huddersfield RUFC.
Lindley BC B ended their 10-match losing run last week with a home win over Huddersfield Rec. Club and have another home match this week when they would very much like to double their season win total. Ravensknowle Park are their visitors and they had a good away win last week when overcoming top three team Kirkheaton C&BC A.
In Division 5 it is top two versus the bottom two clash this week and as the top two teams both have home advantage only one result is anticipated. David Brown Sports and Netherton Con B are only separated by a single point at the top of the table so both will be looking for maximum points this week to protect or improve their positions.
Third-placed Dalton are away to Greenhead Park with the next two teams in the table facing up to each other as Kirkheaton Con B take on Primrose Hill Lib. That match has a 12.30pm start time with a double-header on the Kirkheaton green as the club's A team follow that match with a home fixture against Longwood.
