Veterans League
Preview of the fixtures for Tuesday 4 June in Divisions 3, 4 & 5 of the 10-Man League
The top two teams in Division 3 both have home fixtures this week as they try and shake off a resilient Brockholes A side. The leaders, Denby Dale, have Springwood as visitors who are not in the best of shape at present despite winning half of their 6 matches to date. They sit in the relegation places although a maximum of 2 points behind the five teams immediately above them.
Second-placed Elland C&BC are at home to an inconsistent Slaithwaite team that now rests in 6th place with options to go higher or lower. Brockholes A have to go to Holmfirth who are in the relegation mire but may be in a false position. Four of their 6 fixtures to date have been away from home (all lost) including against the top two whilst they have won both of their home matches to date.
Thorpe Green are in danger of missing the tide of relegation survivors if they are not careful and a first win of the season could change all that. A home fixture agaisnt a team in the bunch above them presents a good opportunity to do that as Hemplow A come to visit.
In Division 4 there is only two points separating the top four teams and two of those go head-to-head this week. The leaders Kirkheaton C&BC A have home advantage over third-placed Milnsbridge B who have only lost once away from home this term (4-5 at Brockholes B). However the leaders have won all their home matches this season and are in fine form.
Of the other two members of that four-team lockjam Marsh United B without a match as their scheduled trip to play Thongsbridge B has been put back to later in the month whilst Lockwood Con B are away to bottom-of-the-table Lindley BC B who are still after a first win of the season. That all presents Brockholes B with an opportunity to move up the table with a home match against Huddersfield Recreation Club who have lost both of their away matches so far.
A big test for the Division 5 leaders, Netherton Con B, this Tuesday as they take their unbeaten record to play Hemplow B who are unbeaten at home. David Brown Sports sit second but 7 points behind the leaders so unlikely to overtake them this week especially as they have a visit from New Mill B who have won 2 of their 3 away matches to date. The next two teams in the table play the bottom two teams so an opportunity to close the gap on the leading pair. Dalton are at Broad Oak B and Kirkheaton Con B have home advantage over Greenhead Park.
