Division 3 top two clash at Elland

Veterans League

Preview of the 10-Man League Divisions 3, 4 & 5 matches to be played on Tuesday 30 July

All eyes are on the Division 3 clash between the top two teams, Denby Dale and Elland WMC. Third-placed Brockholes A are without a match but will be hoping for a big win for Denby Dale to bring the Elland team back within their range. Such has been the form of Denby Dale all season that this match realistically provides the only opportunity for the Elland team to stake their claim for the title. Anything less than a home win would surely hand the title to their visitors. It is clear that the two promotion places are going to be claimed by 2 of the top 3 as they are 17 points clear of 4th-placed Slaithwaite.

Thorpe Green and Skel Windmill seem to be in a two-horse race for the two relegation places with both intent on claiming those roles. Both teams are in dismal form that they need to shake off if they are to mount a stiff defence to push themselves into the pack of four teams immediately above them. They both play teams in that quartet this week and need to start making inroads into that gap before it becomes too late for that to make any difference.

There is a top-two clash in Division 4 as the leaders, Milnsbridge B travel to play their nearest rivals, Marsh United B. The two teams one point behind them, Lockwood Con B and Kirkheaton C&BC A, both have away matches this Tuesday at Huddersfield Recreation Club and Thongsbridge B respectively. Brockholes B need a win at home to bottom team Lindley BC B this week to ensure they stay out of the reach of the second relegation place currently occupied by Meltham B.

One point separates the top two teams in Division 5 and both teams have away matches this week. Leaders David Brown Sports have won 4 on the bounce and have to go to mid-table Broad Oak B who have won 4 of their lat 5 fixtures. Netherton Con B sit one point behind the leaders and play at strugglers Holmfirth B this week who have lost their last 4 matches.

Dalton and Primrose Hill Lib are in touching distance of the top two with Dalton on a good run of eight matches when only David Brown Sports have been able to beat them. However they did lose to Tuesday's opponents, New Mill B, when the teams met in April. Primrose Hill Lib are without a fixture this week and could be overtaken by Kirkheaton Con B who are at bottom of the table Almondbury BC B.
