Winter League
A preview of the Thursday fixtures in Divisions 6 and 7
Division 6 at Netherton Con
We have a top-of-the-table clash this week in Division 6 as Almondbury BC B and Brockholes B put their 100% win records on the line as the teams go head-to-head. That is followed by the teams in 3rd and 4th position also facing each other so there could be a few changes at the top of the table after this Thursday's fixtures. The leading pair finished in 4th and 5th positions at Netherton last season as the Brockholes team completed a league double over their Almondbury opponents. Whether that domination continues to be tested as does the new shelters at Netherton Con where the rain has yet to put in an appearance this season which is becoming very un-Netherton like!
Mirfield A and Springwood C also played last season on the Netherton green where the Springwood team completed an 8-0 winning double over their Thursday opponents. Things have changed this season as the Mirfield team have made a much stronger start to the new campaign and this will be a real test of their progress.
Outlane completed a league double over Huddersfield Recreation Club B last season and are hoping for something similar this week to kick-start their season with a first win. New Mill C are also looking for a first win of the season and will have to beat the Netherton Con B team on their own green to set that marker in the sand.
Cowcliffe B's 100% win record and 2nd place in the table are on the line this Thursday when they face 3rd placed Hanging Heaton B. The Cowcliffe team just missed out on promotion last season and aiming to go one step further this time around but will need to see off such strong rivals if they are to achieve that. Top of the table, Huddersfield RUFC, have to play a Meltham B side that sit in mid-table despite only losing one of their four fixtures to date.
Lockwood Con B will be looking to pick up their first points of the season when meeting Kirkheaton Con B and Broad Oak A will be aiming for their first win of the season when playing Marsh Lib.
