Divisions 2 & 5 teams also play today

Winter League

We have already provided previews of the Divisons 1 and 3 fixture programme for today but there are two more sets of matches lined up on a busy day for the Winter League as we catch up on postponed fixtures. The Division 2 programme lost last week to the heavy snowfall has been rearranged for today at Cowcliffe and Lindley Lib resumes its Division 5 programme after a week off. Lets look at the Division 2 programme first.

Playing on two consecutive days is a novelty for the Winter League and we are still waiting for one result from yesterday's programme to be uploaded as we go to press. Whatever the outcome of the Lowerhouses A versus Lindley BC B match it will not alter anything at the top of the table where Hanging Heaton A and Golcar Lib continue to set the pace.

However that could all change this week as the top two play their nearest two rivals for the npromotion places as the leaders Hanging Heaton take on third-placed Marsh United whilst Golcar Lib face Lowerhouses A. Last year the Hanging Heaton v Marsh United fixture was a Division 3 match as the top two teams collected a win each on their path to promotion. Both teams are aiming to continue their route to the top table so this is an important match in supporting that intent.

Golcar Lib and Lowerhouses A were both relegated from the top division at the end of last season and are working hard in the 'Division of Death' to make immediate returns to the top level. Their meeting today will set the winners store out to achieve that aim so it is very important to both teams.

The two Lindley teams continue to find things tough and both go in search of their first wins of the season again today. Lindley Lib B take on Milnsbridge A whilst their neighbours from Lindley BC B face a Clayton West team desparate to show their full potential and move away from the drop zone.

Moving on to the normal Wednesday Division 5 programme at Lindley Lib as all eight teams line-up and the top two teams take on the bottom two strugglers.

Lindley Lib C continue to set the pace on their home green and will not expect to end their winning run when they take onAlmondbury BC A this week. The Almondbury side are still looking for their first win of the season and will do very well to achieve that this week. The nearest challengers to the leaders are Jackson Bridge and they meet bottom team Springwood B who are also looking for a first win of the season.

The 3rd and 4th placed teams face each other as Kirkheaton C&BC A and Elland WMC are on the same 16 points mark so an added incentive as the winners will move on to pose the biggest threat to the top two. Paddock I&C and Milnsbridge C are also level on points and both are keen to distance themselves from the relegation places which the winners of this match will undoubtedly do.
