Veterans League
Preview of League fixtures in the 6-Man League for Monday 13 June
With Monday home fixtures against the bottom three teams, things look easy for the top three teams in Division 1 this week. Linthwaite Hall are still looking for their first win of the season and they are unlikely to break that run at leaders Shepley whilst Lockwood Con's quest to stay out of the drop zone won't be aided by having to travel to play second-placed Honley Con this week. Third-placed Golcar C&BC have drop zone Lindley Lib 'A' as visitors and with only 2 points between the top three it may take a whitewash win to separate the teams for the next publishing of the table.
The teams in 4th and 5th play each other as do the teams in 6th and 7th positions and also 8th and 9th. Crosland Moor (4th) have home advantage over Milnsbridge BC (5th) and then Thongsbridge 'B' (6th) entertain Netherton Con (7th). Then that leaves Brockholes 'A' (8th) to play Longwood (9th) to sort out the other places.
As there are only 4-points between all six of those teams it leads to three keenly contested fixtures in the making. In fact there are just 7-points (one whitewash win difference) between the top 9 teams in the division and all 9 will consider themselves to be very much in the title fight. That leaves three teams to sort out the relegation matters in their own time and none of them can expect any respite from that pressure this week.
Division 2 leaders Slaithwaite have the day off this week so can expect to loosen their grip on the title chase as second-placed Marsh United 'A' are level on points with them although will get no favours from Paddock I&C where they go this week. Clayton West are 8-points behind the top pair with a match in hand and with a visit to bottom of the table Meltham lined up for Monday they will expect to narrow the gap to a promotion place.
A relegation 14-pointer is lined up with Lindley Lib 'B' in the second relegation spot but they are only 2-points behind Skel Windmill 'B' who they play at home this week.
In a copycat of the other two divisions there are joint leaders in Division 3 as well with Golcar Lib and Marsh Lib level on points and only a 9-point aggregate gap separating them. Marsh Lib have the harder-looking fixture this week as they have to go to Almondbury Lib who have won all four of their home matches this season. Golcar Lib have the League's only unbeaten record this season and will expect to extend that record when Primrose Hill Lib come calling this Monday.
Hemplow could gate-crash the promotion places if results go their way and they come into the week in good form having won their last 5 matches but will need to be on top form at Holmfirth 'B' to stake their claim for a higher placing. The bottom two teams go head to head at Marsh United 'B' where Brockholes 'B' are the visitors and the two teams immediately above them also meet up at Greenhead Park where Shepley 'B' come to play.
