Well Bowled Fantasy League
Marsh United bowler Andrew Carter is the 2024 Summer Fantasy League winner and he takes home the 1st prize of a £100 Well Bowled Sales Voucher. This unique competition attracted 84 entries this year, a new record, and we hope that they have all enjoyed following a team in each of the 8 divisions involved all season.
Andy had only forced himself into the reckoning in the final 6 weeks of the season although he had been a top 10 performer almost all season long but did drop down to 16th position for 3 weeks in May.
Debra Neve took second place and the £40 voucher that goes with it. Debra had been a top four regular all season without ever managing to get into top spot. Long time leader, Mike Ralph, faded away in the final weeks having dropped off of the top place at the end of August after a long run as the pace-setter. Mike only held on to the £20 voucher third-place prize by manner of having played one less game than fellow Springwood bowler John Gatenby.
How come entrants have played a different total number of matches? You would expect the total to be consistent at 186 which is the total accummulated by any 8-team selection as long as no transfers are underaken. As soon as transfers come into the reckoning things change. A transfer may see a new team selected that had played less or more matches than their previous selection so producing a different total.
Where bowlers have tied on the same number of points in the table then the number of matches comes into play. Less matches played is the same as goal diffrence and that means that John played one more match than Mike enabling Mike to claim some consolation for his fine season-long effort.
We are having a season off from the Well Bowled Fantasy League. There will be no competition in the 2024-25 Winter season. We hope to resume the competition for the Summer season of 2025.
