Warwick & Worcester bowler Greg Smith justified his favourite tag when denying Yorkshire's Chris Mordue a second BCGBA All-England title in Staffordshire on Saturday. Two former winners of this coveted title progressed through to the Final where 31/1 favourite Greg Smith prevailed with a 21-12 victory. Pudsey bowler Chris was a 22/1 shot to lift the title he won for the first time in 2018 but it was the 2013 winner who was to pick up his 2nd title this time.
Yorkshire had 9 representatives in the final 64 and three of those reached the quarter-finals where Chris Mordue overcame fellow Yorkshire bowler Jon Edmondson on his way to the Final. There were in fact three former winners of the title in the semi-finals as the 2021 winner,
Ross Dunkley, joined the two finalists at this penultimate stage of the competition.
