Review of the Division 8 fixtures played at Lockwood Con on Tuesday
Golcar C&BC continue to set a hot pace at the top of Division 8 as they make it 5 wins from 5 matches and go 12-points clear. A 6-2 win over Lockwood Con C was a lot closer than the score suggests as it was only a 51-50 Aggregate For total that saw them edge the points but a win is a win.
Lockwood Con C relinquished the second promotion place as a result of that match allowing Cowcliffe C to sneak back into second place. That was despite only drawing 4-4 with Holmfirth who were collecting their third drawn outcome in five matches this season which is more than any team in any division at present. Again it was a close Aggregate For scoreline that clinched the extra points for Holmfirth with a 51-49 scoreline in their favour. That match being decided in the pairs game which lasted 1hour and 19minutes before the Cowcliffe pair edged it 21-19.
Mirfield B remain on the fringe of the promotion battle but could have been well amongst it if they had seen off a Kirkheaton C&BC B team still searching for their first Winter League win. Instead another draw kept the Kirkheaton team positioned to launch a fightback and denied the Mirfield team a filip of confidence.
Linthwaite Hall B are still looking to follow up on their opening day win but were well wide of the mark this week going down 0-8 to Broad Oak B who move comfortably into mid-table in their first season in the League.
The Cowcliffe and Holmfirth pairs shake hands after their marathon game.
