Review of the Division 2 matches played at Cowcliffe on Tuesday 10 December
The Hanging Heaton A versus Golcar Lib top of the table match proved to be every bit as good as its build up with the top two teams fighting out an honourable draw to remain locked together on the same points total with a 12-point 'Aggregate For' advantage for the Hanging Heaton side giving them the edge in the table placings for now. The third game was a real cliff-hanger with Hanging Heaton's Gordon Bradford needing to win by 9 points to take the aggregate bonus and draw the match. He did just manage to get the 21-12 scoreline (55-54 aggregate) to give the Hanging Heaton team a share of the spoils and keep the title race wide open and both teams remain unbeaten.
Elsewhere there was also a bottom two confrontation with the derby match between the two Lindley club's B teams. On this occasion, it was the Lindley BC B side that came out on top collecting a 6-2 win to condemn their neighbours to stay at the foot of the pile for at least another week but more importantly collecting their first win of the season.
Marsh United and Lowerhouses A both won their matches to retain 3rd and 4th places with 6-2 wins over Clayton West and Milnsbridge A respectively. The Lowerhouses result could have been 8-0 if Milnsbridge captain Jim Baxter hadn't fought back from 14-21 down to take the game 21-20 and claim 2 points for his team.
