Review of the results in Divisions 3,4&5 of the 10-Man League played on Tuesday 13 August
There was a massive turnaround at the top of the Division 4 table with the top two losing away from home and being overtaken by two of their rivals. Previous leaders Lockwood Con B suffered a first defeat in four going down 1-8 to the Rugby Club and dropping to 3rd place.
A similar fate for Milnsbridge B after a 2-7 loss at Ravensknowle Park sees them in 4th place albeit one of 3 teams on the same 82 points mark. They are all one point behind Kirkheaton C&BC A who take over at the top after an 8-1 home win over bottom-of-the-table Lindley BC B.
A 7-2 away win for Marsh United B at Brockholes B elevated them two places into the second promotion place in a congested top end of the table with the top four teams only separated by one point. No change at the foot of the table as the bottom three all lost their Tuesday matches this week.
The Elland WMC are really enjoying their first season in the League as they continue to set the pace in the Division 3 title race. It doesn't get much better than clocking up a 9-0 home win over one of your major rivals and that is what happened this week when third-placed Brockholes A were the latest team to threaten but not breach the host's unbeaten home record.
Second-placed Denby Dale were also a beneficiary of that result as it provided a 14-points gap to their nearest rivals for a promotion place and they supplemented that by beating Lindley Lib B by 7-2.
Thorpe Green seem to have woken up to the danger of relegation and a second successive win, this time against one of their nearest opponents in the table, has raised their hopes of avoiding a second consecutive relegation. A 7-2 home win over Springwood brings the teams closer together in the drop zone. Outlane are in danger of becoming embroiled in that dog-fight with a latest 4-5 home defeat to Hemplow A hasn't helped their cause at all.
David Brown Sports were the only team in the top half of the Division 5 table to lose this week when surprisingly going down 2-7 at Hemplow B. That allowed Netherton Con B to steal a 7-point lead over their nearest rivals after they won 7-2 away at bottom team Almondbury BC B. A whitewash 9-0 home win for Kirkheaton Con B over New Mill B inched them nearer to 3rd-placed Dalton who beat Kirkheaton Cricket Club by 7-2.
