A very good crowd turned up at Lindley Bowling Club on Friday to see the final of their £2600 competition. The bookies were proved right as the two shortest-odds players reached the final. The remarkable thing about the evening was the very close scores. In the seven matches played the biggest win was only 21-18. There was one 21-18, four 21-19 and two 21-20’s.
After a tense final Chris Mordue picked up the trophy for the third time when he beat Gareth Coates 21-19. Mordue had stormed into an eight-point lead midway through the game but Coates had the jack at 19-20 and was lying two when Mordue got the final point with his last bowl.
