Review of Tuesday's fixtures in Divisions 3, 4 and 5
Only one of the 18 matches played in Divisions 3, 4 and 5 on Tuesday resulted in an away winner so it is surprising that there wasn't one 9-0 whitewash scoreline among those 17 home wins.
All six matches in Division 3 were won by the home team with Denby Dale winning the top two clash to stay in pole position. That outcome saw Elland WMC drop to 5th position behind Lindley Lib B, Brockholes A and Skel Windmill who all extended their unbeaten records. Brockholes A's 7-2 win over Hemplow A saw their opponents drop to the foot of the table although they have played a game less than all the teams around them. Level on 13 points with them is Lindley Lib B who condemned Paddock I&C to a second defeat and Skel Windmill continued their bright start to the season with a 6-3 home win over Outlane.
Thorpe Green were one of the Fantasy League favourites in Division 3 but haven't made the brightest of starts to the season going down at Holmfirth A 1-8 this week. Then Springwood opened their delayed start to the new campaign with a satisfying 6-3 home win over Slaithwaite.
Brockholes B were the only away day winning team this week when they won their Division 4 match with Lindley BC B by 6-3 who go bottom as a result. Brockholes go top alongside Milnsbridge B who hold the only other unbeaten record in the Division after beating Marsh United B 6-3.
Kirkheaton C&BC A recorded their first win of the season in style by beating Thongsbridge B 8-1 and they now sit alongside the Huddersfield Recreation Club in 3rd place after they went down 3-6 at Lockwood Con B.
A close encounter at Meltham saw the home club's B side beat Marsh Lib 6-3 with a 128-127 aggregate scoreline key in determining that outcome.
Last year David Brown Sports and Broad Oak B finished 3rd and 4th in the final Division 5 table separated by a single point (106-105) so there was much interest in how they would fare when they met for the first time this season. Home advantage was enough for DB Sports to clinch a 6-3 win and put them on top of the table. They sit alongside and level on points with Netherton Con B who had a good 8-1 home win to make it 2 out of 2 to date.
New Mill B also had a second win of the season by beating Dalton 6-3 although the 113-110 aggregate score tells you that there is more to that story than just the result. Two more close encounters produced 5-4 scorelines. Greenhead Park B beating Kirkheaton C&BC B (116-112) and Kirkheaton Con B nudged it past Almondbury BC B 120-115.
