The BCGBA is providing a series of online sessions (webinars) for member clubs to watch and learn from. These webinars are free of charge and last 60-90minutes each. They are on different days starting on 24 March. You don't have to watch all of them although you can if you want. Spread the word among fellow club members and get a groundswell of interest to help move your club forward. Cherry-pick what interests you and what you think might benefit your club. Here is your introduction to what is on offer.
Week of Learning Programme
Our Week of Learning Programme offers free webinars to members of any club affiliated to Bowls England, the English Indoor Bowling Association, the English Short Mat Bowling Association or the British Crown Green Bowling Association.
Registration for each session will be open up until the morning of the session. You can register for free by clicking on the links below. Once registered, you will receive an email with the session link and further information.

March/April 2025 Sessions
The Disciplinary Process 24 March 10.00-11.00am
Devised for BCGBA clubs, this workshop aims to run through the disciplinary process.
Bowls Big Weekend: Top Tips to Success 26 March 1.00-2.00pm
One of our top priorities is to increase participation in lawn bowls by making our sport more accessible. Bowls’ Big Weekend, sponsored by Aviva, is our co-ordinated national recruitment campaign, giving people across the country the opportunity to play the sport for free in a relaxed, informal setting. In 2025, Bowls’ Big Weekend will run from Friday 23rd to Monday 26th May, when affiliated clubs across the country will open their doors to enable new participants to discover everything that is great about our sociable, accessible sport.
Delivering a successful Bowls’ Big Weekend event involves careful planning, organisation, and a focus on creating an enjoyable experience for all participants.
What will you achieve?
This session provides key tips and tricks on how to run a successful open event ensuring new people enjoy positive experiences, wish to come back and get involved with your Bowls Club through a variety of opportunities.
Breaking Down Barriers: United on the Green 24 March 6.00-7.30pm
This course will help you to understand the different barriers that people face, broaden your reach to attract a diverse range of people and explore how you can create a positive environment to retain them.
What will you achieve?
By the end of this session, you will be able to identify how your club or organisation can create a positive environment that enables a diverse range of people to be engaged and retained as participants and volunteers.
What Should a Coaching Structure Look Like in Your Club? 25 March 10.00-11.30am
Delivered by Coach Bowls, this webinar will touch upon the coaching structure and how you may want to organise coaching within your own club.
Safeguarding: Is your club ready for the season ahead? 26 March 5.00-6.00pm & 28 March 11.00-12.00pm
Learn about creating a safe culture through collective responsibility; whether your gearing up for the summer or preparing for the autumn.
What you will achieve:
How to ensure safe membership.
Understand the role of the Safeguarding Officer.
Leadership and Governance 25 March 6.00-7.30pm & 27 March 10.00-11.30pm
This course looks at who’s leading your organisation and the skills they need to be effective. It explores links with good governance principles and shares tips to help you put your policies into practice.
What will you achieve?
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
Review the leadership and management structure of your club or organisation.
Identify the key principles of an effective committee.
Develop an action plan to improve the management structure in your club or organisation.
Exploring Legal Structures 28 March 10.00-11.30am
This course looks at who’s leading your organisation and the skills they need to be effective. It explores links with good governance principles and shares tips to help you put your policies into practice.

Dementia Friends Awareness 27 March 6.00-7.30pm
Delivered by Coach Bowls, discover how you can help your club become more user-friendly, and encourage your members be more aware of the challenges for people affected by dementia.
The word ‘dementia’ describes a set of symptoms that may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. These changes are often small to start with, but for someone with dementia they may become severe enough to affect daily life. A person with dementia may also experience changes in their mood or behaviour.
Club Health Checker – How to Complete It
3 April 10.30-11.30am
This session will delve into the Club Health Checker, a free online self-assessment tool designed to uncover challenges your bowls club might face and pinpoint areas for targeted growth.
What you will achieve:
· An understanding of what the Club Health Checker is
· An understanding of what club knowledge is required to complete the Club Health Checker
· A step-by-step example of completing the Club Health Checker
By completing this session, you’ll gain valuable insights into how the Club Health Checker works and what is required for you to complete it.
Completed Club Health Checker – Questions and Answers
3 April 1.00-2.00pm
The Completed Club Health Checker Question and Answer workshop is designed specifically for those who have completed the assessment.
This session will provide a platform for participants to ask questions, share insights, and explore strategies for implementing the Club Health Checker recommendations.
