Veterans League
It will take an extraordinary round of results in Friday's Veterans Inter-District League to retain any possible interest of the Huddersfield team in winning the title this year. A disastrous double defeat to 8 in both the home and away legs to West Riding last month has surely ended any such hopes. The penultimate round of matches for the Huddersfield team sees them pitched against Bradford who are 21 points behind the Huddersfield team having played one less fixture.
Along with the leaders, Halifax, the two teams offering the most threat to the Huddersfield team are West Riding and Leeds who are the current Champions. Those three teams play the bottom three teams this Friday and with 56 points at stake in each match are expected to reduce if not completely close that gap.
After one big win and one big defeat the Huddersfield home team are once again using the Almondbury BC venue. Teams are allowed to play a maximum of four home matches on the same green and with that maximum attained on using their beloved Meltham green they are still looking for a favourable second home location and hope that Almondbury fits the bill.
The home team is: A Carter, P Kain, S Haigh, J Bloomer, R Dickinson, R Whitwam, A Cross, G Sigsworth, Reserves: A Wike, A Bamforth, non-playing Captain F Greenwood, Manager David Armitage.
The away team play at Asa Briggs and the team is: T Poulter, R Stopford, E Haigh, P Hopkinson, D Pollard, M Gilbert (c), T Butterfield, A. Cooper. Reserve: D Hewitt, Manager Alan Sharpe.
