Veterans League
The Huddersfield Veterans Inter-District team go top of the table after Friday's fifth round of matches. They take a one-point lead over previous leaders, Halifax, who beat Skipton 37-19 which did not match the Huddersfield winning score over Wakefield of 39-17.
That sees the Huddersfield team reverse the one-point difference to take them clear although no one will be celebrating for some while yet. With nine teams in the competition this year it means that one team is stood down each matchday skewing the tables as teams have played a different total number of matches.
With Bradford standing down this week they now have a match in hand over the top two teams with a points difference of 29 behind our team and the top of the table position. However our team is well placed after the latest round of matches which saw the home team thrash their Wakefield counterparts 27-1 and the away team picked up 12 points from the match played at Outwood BC.
Of the others Aire & Wharfe after an impressive start to their first involvement in the League appear to have gone off the boil going down heavily to Wakefield 15-41 in the latest round of fixtures. Then 2023 Champions Leeds will not have given up mounting a full defence of their title but the West Riding team appear to be more of a threat at present.
The next set of fixtures is not until 26 July as it is time for the 2024 Hickson Trophy before then. More of that before next Friday's (5 July) set of Round Robin fixtures to be staged in Bradford but for now savour this set of results and the updated League Table.

I believe there may be some incorrect scores in this official Bowlsnet record of the away match and I will update if I get notice of any changes
