A preview of the 10-Man League Divisions 1 & 2 fixture programmes for this Tuesday
The Marsh United green appears to be in better condition than the club's 'A' team who are on a run of 6 straight defeats after starting the Division 1 season with 5 wins in their opening 6 fixtures to head the table at that point. Maybe the green is the problem with a much-praised surface being no advantage to a home team. Well, that will be really tested this Tuesday when the current table leaders, Golcar Lib 'A', come to play. The visitors are on their own 6-match run but this is one of 6 wins and if the outcome goes as expected then the Marsh team could find themselves in the relegation places come Tuesday evening.
The teams in 2nd and 3rd places meet up at Cowcliffe where Rastrick are the visitors and the home team will be looking to end a run of 3 straight defeats which has diluted their challenge to the leaders.
Fourth-placed Kirkheaton Con 'A' are still looking for their first away win of the season and will do well to achieve that at Elland C&BC, a difficult place to go as shown by a 1-8 defeat suffered there last season. Lockwood Con 'A' will be looking to complete a double over Lowerhouses who are this week's visitors. Meltham 'A' will be hopeful of picking up a second away win of the season when they go to play Milnsbridge 'A' and Clayton West could scupper Longwood's hopes of ending a 5-match losing sequence and moving out of the relegation places.
The top three teams in Division 2 all have away matches this week and that could set things up nicely for 4th-placed Lindley BC 'A' who entertain 2nd-placed Shepley but they will have to win 8 of the match rubbers to pass their visitors in the table this week but will expect to at least eat away at that deficit. Lindley Lib 'A' are the leaders and will be looking to build on their 8-1 early season win over Thongsbridge 'A' when the two teams meet this Tuesday.
Third-placed Netherton Con 'A' will be looking to extend their current three-match winning run when they travel to play Hemplow 'A' who are keen to widen the gap between themselves and the two teams immediately below them and in the relegation places. The two bottom places are currently held by Bradley & Colne and Holmfirth 'A' who both have home fixtures this week but such is the gap to safety that both will still be in the drop zone regardless of this week's results. Bradley & Colne take on New Mill 'A' who have won their last four matches and Holmfirth 'A' welcome Thorpe Green who have been involved in 9-0 scorelines in their last two matches - won one, lost one.
Linthwaite Hall host a Broad Oak 'A' team in their best run of the season having won their last 5 matches and still with aspirations of moving into the promotion battle. Wherever you are playing this week, enjoy your bowling gentlemen.
