It is with deep regret that we report the passing on 23 December of Jack Dyson aged 99 of Ravensknowle Park Bowling Club. Jack was a loyal and important club member ever since he joined the club and had completed more than 42 years as a member. In fact it may be even much longer than that as club records are only available from 1978. Jack was Club President up until 2012 and refused to accept the honorarium that went with the role.
He bowled in the Veterans League team right up until 2018 when he bowled three matches that season for the B team in the 10-Man League to complete more than 30 years bowling in the League. Among those three matches in his final season was a notable 21-2 pairs victory.
This achievement was recognised at the Veterans League Anniversary event at Meltham earlier this year with the photograph below showing Jack (centre) receiving his certificate of Long Service from John Hoyle.
Still an active member at 99 is a very notable achievement and he will be sorely missed by his friends and club mates and the Huddersfield bowling community. Jack Dyson R.I.P.
