Ladies BCGBA C-of-C July qualifiers

Bowling News

I am once again indebted to Dave Parkin for his great work in producing the lastet update to line-up for BCGBA Ladies Champion-of-Champions competition to be staged at the end of September. In his latest contribution Dave has gone further than ever before by suggesting to the BCGBA which competitions would merit being added to the reserve list now that more are clearly required to ensure that the field of 32 is filled.

The latest update to BCGBA Ladies Champion-of-Champions line-up has been delayed to include the weekend's MERSEYSIDE MERIT held at OXTON CONSERVATIVE CLUB which was won by LYNSEY GORMAN 21-20 to qualify her for the CHAMPION of CHAMPIONS event on the 29th September.

At the same time we also finally found out when the CHESHIRE MERIT will be run. This is now the only other qualifier in August.

There were 4 other qualifying events held in July but only two actual qualifiers were added to the field. This means we know 23/32 of the field for OWLEY WOOD but we have only 8 events left from the initial list so the BCGBA will have to now look for more reserve events.

The month kicked off with the LADIES SENIOR INDIVIDUAL MERIT and WELSH MERIT winner, LINDA WILLIAMS took down the title from CHERYL CASWELL by coming thru a 64 runner field at HAWCOAT PARK in CUMBRIA. She won 21-10 in the final to take the title that she also won in 2012.

This meant that the last reserve event, the IOM TOURISM winner in September took the 32nd spot in the field.

The next qualifier was announced by LANCASHIRE who instead of sending their merit winner, they reward their INTER COUNTY AVERAGES WINNER and we welcome CHRIS MCMANUS to the field.

The other qualifier this month was LADIES FLEETWOOD FESTIVAL winner, CAROL DARLEY who beat CHERYL CASWELL in the final. CAROL followed this up by winning the DOROTHY PIERCE MEMORIAL PAIRS last weekend with LIZ BENNETT.

The final qualifying event was the LADIES BRITISH PARKS MERIT which was won by the already qualified, ANDREA AINLEY from SOUTH YORKSHIRE who beat ALEX EDMONDSON from YORKSHIRE 21-14 in the final at BROOKHILL BC in WARWICKSHIRE on the 28th July.

ANDREA’s win meant the exhausted reserve list needs replenishing.

I have compiled some possibilities below.
