Preview of the Division 1 & 2 fixtures scheduled for Wednesday 26 October

The top two divisions in the Winter League begin their 2022-23 fixtures this Wednesday from 11.30am. Division 1 matches will once again all be played at Milnsbridge BC this season whilst all the Division 2 matches will be at Springwood. The delayed start is solely down to green availability as both greens undertook extensive maintenance programmes following the end of the summer season.

The end of season tables for 2021-22 are alongside with the opening day fixture lists also published. These show that the Champions from Lower Hopton will begin the defence of their title against the all-ladies team, the New Millers. Meltham were promoted from Division 2 after winning all 16 of their league matches last season and they take on Thorpe Green 'A' this week. Promoted along with them are Lindley Lib who are now renamed as Lindley Lib 'A' after they entered a second team into the competition for the new season.

It will be interesting to see how the Milnsbridge green runs after the AIR2G2 service it has been subjected to recently as has the green at Springwood where two teams that played in Division 1 last season meet up on opening day this time around. Milnsbridge 'A' dropped down a level after a reorganisation even though they were out of the relegation places. They take on Rastrick 'A' who did come down via the traditional relegation route along with Lowerhouses 'A' who were denied an escape on the final day of the season. They meet a new team entry from Lindley BC 'B' and we welcome a Lockwood Con team to their first Winter League season and they play Jackson Bridge.
