Review of the 10-Man League Divisions 1 & 2 matches played on Tuesday 18 June
In Division 1 a home win for Lowerhouses and a home defeat for Longwood means the gap between the top two teams has changed from 9 points on Monday to 14 points after the Tuesday fixtures. A solid 7-2 home win for the leaders over Kirkheaton Con A saw them stride away from the chasing pack as the next five teams are only separated by 2 points as Longwood are pulled back into the pack of five. That second successive 2-7 home defeat for Longwood, this time to Waterloo, has hit them hard and enabled Waterloo to move up two places to 4th.
Golcar Lib take over 3rd place after a 4-5 loss at Marsh United A who made it three wins on the bounce but remain in the lower half of the table. Netherton Con won for the first time this season when beating Lindley BC A 6-3 but are now 10 points adrift of safety but will be reinvigorated by that result which may be the filip they need to kick-start their season.
Lockwood Con lost 3-6 at Clayton West and drop two places to 7th whilst Clayton West remain just above the relegation places. Rastrick are on a barren run of three straight home defeats with the latest being against Cowcliffe who were 7-2 winners.
It was a good day for the Division 2 leaders, Meltham A, for as well as beating New Mill A 6-3 their two nearest challengers both went down. Elland C&BC took a hammering at Golcar Lib B going down 1-8 to widen the gap to the leaders to 12 points. Lindley Lib A have firmly thrown their hat into the promotion race after beating and passing Milnsbridge A on their own green and taking over third place as a result.
The bottom four teams were playing each and the bottom two teams both lost out with Almondbury Lib losing 1-8 at Linthwaite Hall and Broad Oak A made it 5 defeats on the trot when losing 2-7 at Almondbury BC A. The gap between the bottom two and the rest is 10 points and growing. A good 6-3 home win for Shepley A over Thongsbridge A ended a run of 3 straight wins for their opponents and keeps Shepley clear of relegation speculation.
