Winter League
Preview of the matches to be played in Divisions 3 & 4 on Monday 22 January
There is a full programme in Division 3 where it is difficult to look beyond the current top two teams as the promotion favourites as they continue to set the pace. Hanging Heaton are in pole position for the Division 3 title ahead of Marsh United their fellow new Winter League team. The two teams meet up in their second last match of the season but will there still be an 8-point gap between the teams by then?
It is the turn of Rastrick to attempt to stop the steamroller ride of Hanging Heaton as they look to extend their run of seven straight 8-0 wins. Marsh United will be looking to get their title race back on track after only winning one of their last three matches but should be looking a for a repeat 8-0 win over Paddock I&C as they did when the teams met earlier in the season. Milnsbridge B have a bye week but will still be in third place regardless of any combination of results.
With the bottom two teams increasingly adrift there is little for the the mid-table trio to play for as Thorpe Green B and Dalton go head to head and Lindley Lib B could extinguish any final flames of hope that Primrose Hill Lib may have.
Things are much tighter in Division 4 with only 10 points between the top four teams. New Mill B currently lead the way but have failed to reach the levels attained when winning their first four matches of the season. This week they have to take on Netherton Con A who sit in fourth position with the two teams between them also going head-to-head as Thorpe Green C and Lindley Lib C meet. Both teams are on 52 points although the Lindley Lib side have played one less game than their opponents.
The bottom four teams play each other with the teams in the relegation places, Almondbury BC A and Springwood B meeting with the Almondbury side only losing one of their last five fixtures whilst the only match that bottom-of-the-table Springwood B have won this season was against this week's opponents. That leaves Kirkheaton C&BC and Lowerhouses B to sort out which one of them is going to join the relegation rumble by losing this week's encounter.
