A review of the matches played in Divisions 3 & 4 on Monday 15 January
There were three 4-4 draws from the eight Monday fixtures including one big surprise in Division 3 as Thorpe Green B shared the points with Marsh United. Losing the two singles games by the same 20-21 scoreline proved to be key in the outcome. That is only the second blemish on the Marsh team's record this season but such is the domination of the top two teams that any slip-up can be crucial. That's how it looks as Hanging Heaton chalked up a 7th successive 8-0 win to go 8 points clear.when overwhelming Lindley Lib B.
A good 6-2 win for Rastrick saw them leapfrog their opponents, Dalton, to take fourth place whilst Milnsbridge B beat Primrose Hill Lib 6-2 to stay a remote third.
Two 4-4 draws in Division 4 with the two winners from the other two matches going 1 and 2 in the table today. New Mill B went top after an emphatic 8-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Springwood B and Thorpe Green C moved into the second spot after beating Lowerhouses 6-2.
They both overtook Lindley Lib C who were without a game but remain well placed and a game in hand over the two teams above them. Netherton Con will be disappointed to share the points with Kirkheaton C&BC who they beat earlier in the season and it would have been very different if it wasn't for the 19-21 and 20-21 scores which gave them the aggregate 60-52.
It was an even closer aggregate in the other drawn match as Milnsbridge C just edged it past Almondbury BC A 58-56 who have only lost one of their last 5 fixtures as they continue to rally against what once seemed like an obvious relegation season. They remain in the relegation places and have to face 3 of the top 4 in their remaining 6 fixtures.
