Bowling News
This coming weekend is the 50th Anniversary of the BCGBA Champion-of-Champions competition which will take place at Owley Wood BC in Northwich. The Men's competition takes place on Saturday 28th with the Ladies taking centre stage on Sunday 29th.
Both competitions include 32 top bowlers who have all qualified by winning earlier competitions so producing a field of proven winners. It promises to be a great climax to the bowling season. There will be many spectators there supporting their favourites and I know that at least two coachloads of supporters of the 8 Yorkshire qualifiers will be in attendance and very vocal in their support. One of those coaches will be filled with Kirkheaton supporters of Josh Brown.
Josh opens his bid for the title by taking on fellow Yorkshire rep Alex Wolfenden and they will be in the first four ties on the green. The full draw is listed below which has one missing competition winner. This is for the final qualifier for the winner of the Autumn Waterloo held last weekend. The winner was Gareth Coates but as Gareth has already qualified the 32nd space goes to David Nelson McDermott, the Ribblesdale Classic Champion.
The draw has produced one classic encounter as reigning Champion, Greg Smith, takes on the charismatic and multiple qualifier Callum Wraight who won this competition in 2015. That should be a great match with one of the favourites for the title being eliminated at the first stage but the winner will become an even firmer favourite.

Graeme Wilson profile has been included in the program for the event that I've helped compile as a "legend"
