Memories
Last week I shared a copy of this 1922 team photograph and told you it was of a Milnsbridge bowling team but asked you to name which Milnsbridge club. Even though the choice was limited it didn't produce any answers. The best response I got was from Dave Parkin who decided that the choice was too limited and threw in another potential club to confuse things even more. Here is Dave's response.
In 1922, there were 3 clubs operating in Milnsbridge
Milnsbridge BC
Milnsbridge Liberal
Milnsbridge County WMC
The 3rd one was situated between the other two and can be clearly seen on this 1918 map.
Milnsbridge County won the inaugural LITTLEWOOD CUP (Huddersfield Association) for 2nd teams of SUBSCRIPTION CUP teams in 1925
Their only team honour in Huddersfield competitions but they were very active in the Colne Valley League and their green held their Merit in 1926, 1931 & 1935.
Ernest Garside of Milnsbridge County was also the first winner of the CV Merit in 1921
