Neighbours clash in Division 3 key match

Veterans League

A preview of the Tuesday fixtures in Divisions 3, 4 & 5 in the Veterans 10-Man League

The top three teams in Division 3 all have home matches this Tuesday and with the top two on the same points total, one point is all it takes to produce a change in the running order. They both play teams in the bottom of the half of the table with leaders Brockholes B hosting Paddock I&C and Hemplow A entertaining Thorpe Green. Both will expect to beat their lower placed opponents but which will win by the greater points total?

Third-placed Holmfirth A also have a home fixture against Springwood who sit 4th in the table so a much closer encounter is anticipated. The two remaining teams in the top half of the table also meet up with Marsh Lib A and Lindley Lib B facing each other with both on the same 9-points total. Almondbury Lib are also on the same mark and go to meet Lockwood Con B who sit just a point behind them so the winner is likely to have the bragging rights after their match.

A big match at the foot of the table with the bottom two teams going head-to-head as either Linthwaite Hall or Slaithwaite will pick up their first win, leaving their neighbours with the record of being the last team in the Division to claim their first win of the season.

The top three teams in Division 4 are all protecting unbeaten records with only one point separating them and the top two both have home fixtures this Tuesday. The Rugby Club have the edge at present with a one-point lead as they host promoted team David Brown Sports whilst second-placed Marsh United B take on Thongsbridge B. Third-placed Skel Windmill have the most difficult-looking fixture of the top three as they travel to play 5th-placed Ravensknowle Park.

Netherton Con B took the Division 5 title last season to win promotion but have faltered at the start at this higher level with two defeats to date. They will be looking to address that unwelcome situation with a home match against Primrose Hill Lib this Tuesday. Meltham B and Huddersfield Recreation Club are also seeking their first wins of the new season and both have home advantage this week to raise their hopes of making progress up the table. Meltham B have 4th-placed Kirkheaton C&BC A as visitors whilst the Recreation Club host Milnsbridge B.

There is a top two clash in Division 5 as the leaders, Kirkheaton Con B, have Lindley BC B as guests with both teams on the same 12-points mark. They are followed by three teams on 10-points including Greenhead Park and Marsh Lib B who meet each other at Thorpe Green, the new home of Greenhead Park.

Things are very tight in this Division with only 3-points separating the top eight teams. There are two more top eight encounters this week as Dalton (4th) entertain Brockholes B (8th) and Broad Oak B (7th) play New Mill B (6th).

All that leaves the bottom four teams playing each other with just one-point between them. Bottom of the table Almondbury BC B have home advantage over Holmfirth B. Hemplow B are the only team in the bottom four with a win to their name but they still sit second to bottom at present and are on the same points total as Tuesday's opponents Kirkheaton C&BC B.
