Review of the Division 1 results from matches played on Wednesday 11 December
The Division 1 season has now reached the halfway point with each of the 8 teams having played the other 7 teams once. Thorpe Green and Lower Hopton lead the way with just 2 points between them and both collected 6-2 wins this week. Thorpe Green ended Cowcliffe's run of three straight wins and halted their charge up the table although they remain in 4th place after this week's match. Lower Hopton saw off Kirkheaton Con A by the same 6-2 scoreline and they remain the biggest threat to the Champions.
All the teams have played two matches this week with a set of catch-up fixtures played on Monday and New Mill A lost both times to drop to third place. At the start of the week they were top but this is a Division that doesn't reward defeats and although Monday's defeat to Lower Hopton might not have been a surprise Wednesday's defeat at the hands of Lindley BC A certainly was. A 2-6 reversal means that they are now level on points with 4th placed Cowcliffe A.
It is not all doom and gloom in the lower regions of the table as Lindley Lib A won for the first time this season and it was an emphatic 8-0 victory over Meltham A but even that wasn't sufficient to lift them off the foot of the table. However it did condemn the Meltham team to a relegation place as we move into the second half of the season's fixtures.
