New series of memories in March

Memories

Memories

March tends to be a quiet month for news of crown green bowling matters. The Winter League has finished its 5th season, clubs are finishing off their annual meetings and the summer season fixtures are published. Soon the greenkeepers will be putting their winter work to one side and showing off their greens to club members and maybe even allow them a roll or two if they promise not to be too demanding..

It is also a good time to look back at some memories. The typical HuddWeb visitor is fond of bowling memories. They are often the most popular and most visited postings on the website. In March we will be launching a new series of memories looking back at the first 21 years of bowling in the 21st century. Taking each year in sequence to bring you documented memory of local, county-wide and national events and happenings. That amounts to 21 articles, one a year from the first 21 years of the 21st century.

The first article will appear on 1 March when we look at the bitter split in Yorkshire between two governing bodies - the British Parks and the Federation of Crown Green Bowling. To be followed by a series of press cuttings, website postings and individual memories to take us up to 2020 when hopefully we can return to more fresh news of 2025 bowling.

During the month we will still be including all the local, county and national news as it develops but hopefully to include a 21st Century story most days during the month as well.
