Review of the Division 7 fixtures played at RUFC on Monday 10 February

Still catching up on Division 7 League matches and there is still no end to the race for the second promotion place. Three teams are still in the frame for that ellusive final place and all three are on the same 62 points total. Hanging Heaton B and Kirkheaton Con B have the edge at present and are separated by just 2 Aggregate For totals, 714-712. However Marsh Lib are very much in the promotion mix with the easiest (on paper) final fixture when they take on 3rd from bottom Meltham B.

Kirkheaton Con B have the most difficult looking match as they face the Champions Cowcliffe B whilst Hanging Heaton B take on the homesters from the RUFC who could theoetrically claim that ellusive 2nd place. However that seems unlikely as they haven't won any of their last 8 fixtures and have to take on Hanging Heaton B who have only been beaten once in their last 5 matches and that was by the Champions Cowcliffe B.

All three of the main contenders could have laid stronger claims to that 2nd spot on Monday but all recorded the same 6-2 wins. A 6-2 win for Marsh Lib over table-toppers Cowcliffe B forcing themselves into contention whilst Kirkheaton Con B and Hanging Heaton B both beat bottom three opponents in Broad Oak A and Meltham B respectively. That ensured no change in the points difference and a fitting climax to the season next Monday.

Before then the bowlers that have entered the Winter Cup Division 7 Qualifying Round will get back on the green on Thursday as 19 entrants will compete for the 2 qualifying spots into the Round of the Last 16.
