Review of the matches in Divisions 5 and 6 played on Thursday 16 November

With just four points separating the top six teams in Division 5 things are becoming a little congested in the top half of the table. There was a big setback for the leaders Outlane when they were beaten by Springwood C 6-2 although they do remain top of the pile for now. Mirfield A started the day in 6th place and finished it in second spot after a great 8-0 win over Netherton Con B who have now lost all four of their matches and are at the foot of the table. Mirfield lost their very first match 0-8 but since then are unbeaten and are now just two points behind the leaders.

There was a surprise for Slaithwaite as they were pushed all the way by an improving Huddersfield Recreation Club A team as the sides drew 4-4 but managed to hang on to third spot for now. That was a third successive 4-4 draw for the Recreation Club. Jackson Bridge made it two wins on the bounce with a 6-2 success over Almondbury BC B to continue their climb up the table.

Linthwaite Hall continue to set a hot pace at the top of Division 6 with an 8-0 win over Cowcliffe B their latest scalp and now have a four-points lead over Lockwood Con B who remain in contention after a 6-2 win over Mirfield B, a result that pins the Mirfield team to bottom place. Kirkheaton Con B won for the first time this season with a hard fought 6-2 win over Huddersfield RUFC with a 44-43 aggregate advantage edging the points for the Kirkheaton side. New Mill C may emerge with the strongest claim to the second promotion spot as they are handily placed in third spot at present after a 6-2 victory over the Broad Oak team.
